Ruth's smile was the first thing I noticed, then her warmth and genuine interest interest in me. As a teenager, I remember her wonderful organ playing in church, her love for her family and her joy at teaching piano.
As a student, her friendly welcome and concern for a very awkward young woman helped me settle into life in Cardiff.
This warmth and interest was always present even when several years had passed since we last met.
I remember one occasion when I was sat next to her at church and she had forgotten her hymn book (not shoes), she ask to share mine. When the hymn was announced she rolled her eyes at me, of course, Ruth new all the words as well as the notes, no need for a hymn book!
I will miss her greatly, as will so many others.
